Carl Hansen & Sons Shell Chair

The Shell Chair has such a dominant presence that it wasn't a popular furniture piece when Hans J. Wegner designed it in 1963. Some critics loved it, but it was the general publics reluctance to accepr the chair's bold and different design and was only produced in limited quantities. 

The Shell was reintroduced in 1998 and it won several design awards as well as winning over the public.
