Vitra - The Workbays App
Vitra Workbays - The micro-architectural system.
I think it's fair to say that if you're on this website, you know who Vitra are. So the first issue to address is this; what is the Workbay?
The Workbay was developed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec back in 2012 and it is a micro-architectural system that reshapes the working environment, bringing flexibility to rigid office layouts. They aimed to make an organic structure with fleece walls and aluminium profiles which break the office frame work norms, and they hit that target and then some. The Workbays are freestanding and they provide a visually and acoustically secluded area for up to four people to meet.
"One should not forget that office environments are changing and that the furniture will outlast many office concepts. This means it has to take part in the evolution, not stand in its way" - Erwan Bouroullec
Now over to the Vitra Workbays App for Apple, Available on the App Store. I have tested the app out on an Ipad and this is what I have to say...
The Workbay App provides the user with 3D models, and allows them to select the different types of Workbay. The app itself may be a little processor intensive and may be a tad slower due to the rendering of the high detail 3D images, but it is worth it as you get to see in detail the different Workbays. This is also the reason why it takes a fair amount of download time. The app allows you to view the Workbays from all angles so you know what they'll look like in your office. It also allows you to change certain elements of the Workbay, such as sizes, colours, and interiors. If you like more than one of them, the app allows you to view multiple Workbays together to see how they look combined. If you're a designer this app would suit you well due to the fact that it allows you to view multiple 3D combinations, product details, and provides information on the designers. As well as all these great features, the Workbay app allows you to download the CAD data for the workbay.
This is one screen that you should get used to...
