A Day in Clerkenwell Design Week by Enzo Roger
A Day in Clerkenwell Design Week
As intern in Think Furniture Design, I had the chance to go to the Clerkenwell Design Week 2019, with Rhiannon, Brendon and Tony. Here are the details of this amazing experience!
Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it truly one of the most important design hubs in the world.
CDW has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting showroom events, exhibitions and special installations.
Celebrating its 10th year in 2019, this event attracts around 35,000 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.
More than a first time in London for me it was my first experience in the Design Industry!
Norr11 showroom “Mammoth Chair”
Firstly, we went to the Norr11 showroom, the team kindly welcomed us. Then they presented their latest products as the nice “Mammoth Chair”. This showroom was a very comfortable place, with many top of the range pieces.
Then we discovered the beautiful showroom of Boss Design, it was really stylish. With a large range of innovative furniture, and a lower floor dedicated to many different pods.
Boss Design showroom
After Boss we visited the new Jess Design space where we saw the latest “Beal” seat and discussed with true nice people.
We also went to the Design Fields, and to the Techo showroom where we met welcoming people in an interesting and entertaining place!

Orangebox showroom
Next up the huge Orangebox five floors showroom. We saw a lot of different products of the brand, including tables, task chairs, sofas and pods. Then there was a very interesting talk about the new ways of working, relating to younger generations entering the workplace.
At the end of the day we went to the KI party and to the popular Kusch party. It was a great day and a great evening.
This event allowed me to discover a part of the English culture with regards to business. I was impressed about the way people manage to combine work with pleasure, in a good atmosphere with welcoming, careful and open minded people.
Before CDW I did not realise how diverse the Design industry was, with many players such as designers, architects, manufacturers and resellers. It makes me want to work in this sector, especially with the top of the range products which I find so interesting.

Thank you for this wonderful day at #CDW2019 !
